Five BETA students advance to UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Austin

Under the direction of Ying Ching Jeter, five BETA students competed at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Competition at The University of Texas at Austin on May 28. 

Students are Josias L. Bahena, a junior from McAllen, Fanzhen Ding, a senior from Edinburg, Diana Huerta, a sophomore from Mission, Seung Min Kim, a senior from Edinburg, and Catarina Miranda, a sophomore from Edinburg.  

Both Fanzhen Ding and Catarina Miranda competed in two categories at state. Ding competed in piano, earning a Division II rating with a silver medal, and in flute, earning a Division I rating with a gold medal. Miranda competed in treble voice, earning a Division II rating with a silver medal, and in acoustic guitar, earning a Division I rating with a gold medal.

Diana Huerta competed in treble voice, earning a Division III rating, while Josias L. Bahena competed in b-flat clarinet, earning a Division II rating and silver medal, and Seung Min Kim competed in flute, earning a Division II rating with silver medal.
