South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy (BETA) in Edinburg welcomes rising 6th, 7th and 8th-grade students from throughout the Rio Grande Valley to participate in its inaugural BETA Robotics Camp, to be held at the campus July 18-20.

During the three-day session, students will learn to design, build, program and test robots through the use of Lego Mindstorms curriculum.

They will engage in team-based activities from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, exploring programming and honing communication skills and the ability to work in teams. The camp will culminate with a robotics competition.

Participating students need not have prior experience coding, as the session will include an introduction to the basics. Students must have completed the 5th-, 6th- or 7th- grade during the 2015-16 school year.

There is no fee to participate in the camp, and transportation and meals will be provided. Registration will open online at www.stisd.net at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. Limited seats are available. Registration will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and will close once all seats are filled.
