Summer Leadership & Virtual College Symposium:

The district will host two Summer Leadership and Virtual College Symposiums in June.
The first session - to be held June 13-15 - will be for current STISD 7th-graders (rising 8th-graders). It will be held at the STPA campus in Edinburg located at 724 S. Sugar Rd.
The second session - to be held June 20-22 - will be for current STISD 10th-graders (rising 11th-graders). It will be held at the Med High campus in Mercedes located at 700 Med High Drive.
Each day will start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served to participating students.
Transportation will be provided. The schedule for both sessions will be made available within the Transportation section of the website as we get closer to the date.
The experience will include various activities geared towards increasing college readiness, including:
- Virtual college tours
- College exploration
- Leadership building seminar
- Financial aid session
- College life and budgeting
- Resume writing
- Career searching
- Interview/etiquette skills
- Dual enrollment/AP information seminar

Selection will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. The online application will close when seats are filled.
Who can apply:
- Current STISD students
- Must be at least 16 years old by June 6
- Current STISD teacher
- students graduating June of 2016 may NOT apply for this summer camp
- for all eligible candidates, please be sure you will NOT have to attend summer school or another summer program
participants will attend lectures at the Rising Scholars Academy of South Texas
in San Benito, and experience aviation first hand, with three airplane flights
in general aviation (private planes) around the Rio Grande Valley.
Transportation and meals will be provided.
The bus schedule will be posted on the district website weeks leading up to the camp.
